 The Detroit Tigers completed a sweep of the New York Mets on Wednesday with a 4-1 victory.

 Tigers' pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez outdueled Mets' ace Justin Verlander in the contest.

Rodriguez threw seven innings of one-run ball, allowing just three hits while striking out six.

Verlander, who was making his second start of the season after missing all of 2021 due to injury, went six innings and allowed four runs on six hits and two walks.

The Tigers got on the board early with a two-run homer by Akil Baddoo in the first inning.

The Mets cut the lead in half in the third inning with a sacrifice fly from Brandon Nimmo.
